Since the discovery of automobile in 17th century, the designs of the vehicles have drastically changed so as the fuel to power them. Initially powered by steam and having two or three tires automobiles transformed into coal powered engines.
Started off as a racing vehicle, with no or little practical use in daily lives, the automobile industry transformed very fast. This didn’t stay as the racing industry rather gave birth to a whole new industry, thus termed as Automobile Industry.Henry ford, being assumed as a pioneer among first assembly concept expander, was the first one to produce affordable cars in mass production, while the fuel remaining as gasoline.
As the time passed and with the technology sophistication and awareness, automobile engineers and manufacturers were forced to think of better fuel alterations or alternative. Primary reason to think and work over was due to environmental pollution in addition to the scarcity and rapid reduction of energy resources.
Initially, modifications were made in gasoline so as to make it better for engine and increase mileage; however the costs of fuel were also increased multiple folds and as a result very few car owners shifted to modified fuels. With the passage of time and advancement in technology, automobile designers and manufacturers came up with alternative sources of fuels.
Engineers introduced solar powered cars, whose primary fuel source is sunlight, but this design and modification had some limitations, which still exist. Then came hybrid cars, which support multiple fuels while primary source of fuel being water or such fluid.
These cars were intended to reduce emission of hazardous gases in the environment. Moving one step further in this fuel search, the latest automobile technology introduced the use of electric current to charge the automobile while using it as primary source of fuel and power.
Each of the modification of design and fuel has their shortcomings which are still required to be answered and fixed in order to shift the paradigm of automobile fuel. If, in near future, the development and technology supports alteration development then there is no doubt that there will be multiple fuel options for the owners to choose from.
All the leading automobile brands are already developing vehicles which can run on alternate fuel sources giving an expectation that change in fuel will surely support the change in future, while moving towards the betterment of environment, comfort and designs.
